Echos of the Night Porter

When Louis Vuitton sent patent leather officer’s caps down the runway, there was a certain inevitability attached: that the Night Porter themes would not go untouched. Hence the arrival of this shoot featuring Yasmin Le Bon. Bare chested bar for suspenders, strategically sitting Charlotte Rampling style, or with fingers positioned like the hell end of a pointed gun into her open mouth: the inspirations are clear. And this is a film fetish that’s been inspiring fashion on and off for decades.
But where many fetish inspired shoots are decidedly hard, Bryan Adams’ photography keeps a certain softness about it. Le Bon as protagonist isn’t dominated, or even particularly domineering. Whether in leathers or hotpants or high heeled boots, she’s proof that these elements can be pulled off with grace.
